Air Conditioning Installation — Sunshine Coast

Split system and ducted AC installed by one trade. Dual licensed electrical (EC 90909) and refrigeration (ARC L113840), so there’s no coordinating between sparkies and fridgies. One visit, one quote, one point of accountability.

AC Install Done Right — The First Time

Most Sunshine Coast AC installs need a licensed electrician AND a licensed refrigeration technician. Two call-out fees, two schedules, two sets of paperwork. We hold both licences, which means one visit, one quote, one person responsible if something needs attention later.

What We Do

1

Split System Installs

Daikin, Mitsubishi, Fujitsu, Panasonic. Supply, install, commission, and handle the compliance paperwork. New installs and replacements.
2

Ducted Systems

Whole-home ducted AC with zone control. Sized properly for Sunshine Coast climate and your specific home layout.
3

Correct Sizing

Undersized AC costs more to run and fails faster. Oversized AC short-cycles and doesn’t dehumidify properly. We size every install for the actual space.
4

Clean Pipework

Pipework that looks like it was planned, not an afterthought. Correct slopes, neat chase covers, weather-sealed penetrations. Details that matter for longevity.
5

Electrical Included

Dedicated circuits, isolators, RCBO protection on AC circuits. All done by the same licensed electrician — no coordination between trades.
6

24/7 Emergency Repairs

Not cooling during a heatwave? Ice on the unit? Loud noises? We handle AC breakdowns 24/7 across the Sunshine Coast.

How We Install Air Conditioning

Most AC installers on the Coast do this as fast as possible and leave. We come out, assess the space, and recommend a size and placement based on what will actually work long-term. Then:

  • Free site assessment — room dimensions, insulation, sun exposure, existing wiring, preferred unit placement
  • Written quote — fixed price, all-inclusive (unit, pipework, electrical, mounting, commissioning, compliance certificate)
  • Same-visit install — most single-head splits are done in 3–5 hours
  • Electrical + refrigerant in one — no waiting for a sparkie to come back, no finger-pointing if something goes wrong
  • Pipework routed cleanly — weather-sealed penetrations, neat chase covers, correct pipe slopes for condensate drainage
  • Commissioning and walkthrough — we test the unit, explain the remote and any smart features, and leave you with the manual and warranty documentation

What It Costs

Typical Sunshine Coast AC install pricing:

  • Single-room split system (2.5kW): $1,800 – $2,500 supplied and installed
  • Living area split (5–7kW): $2,500 – $3,800 supplied and installed
  • Whole-home multi-head (3–4 heads): $6,000 – $12,000
  • Ducted system (4-bedroom home): $12,000 – $20,000
  • Replacement of existing unit (same location): $500 off the installed price above

Pricing includes the unit, all pipework, electrical supply and isolator, installation labour, commissioning, refrigerant, and compliance paperwork. We don’t quote the unit separately and then surprise you with install costs — everything is in the written quote upfront.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I legally need a licensed refrigeration technician for AC installation?

Yes. Any installer who handles refrigerant gas in Australia is legally required to hold an Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) licence. That includes filling, topping up, or decommissioning a split system. Seascape Electrical holds ARC L113840 in addition to our electrical contractor licence (EC 90909), which is why we can do the entire install as one trade. Unlicensed refrigeration work is illegal and voids the unit’s warranty — avoid installers who can’t show you their ARC number.

What size air conditioner do I need?

Depends on room size, insulation, orientation, ceiling height, window glazing, and local climate. A rough rule of thumb for the Sunshine Coast: 2.5kW per 12sqm of well-insulated living space, adjusted upward for west-facing rooms, high ceilings, or poor insulation. But rules of thumb are a starting point — we size every install properly based on the actual space. Undersizing costs more to run and shortens unit life. Oversizing short-cycles and doesn’t dehumidify. Both are common when installers are trying to move stock rather than doing the job right.

How long does a split system install take?

A single-head split system install in a standard home typically takes 3–5 hours from arrival to commissioning. Multi-head or ducted systems take longer — usually a full day per 2–3 heads, or 2–3 days for a full ducted install depending on home size and access. We give you a firm time estimate in the quote. Most residential work is completed in a single visit.

Can I keep using my old AC while you install the new one?

Usually yes if it’s a different room. If we’re replacing the same unit in the same location, you’ll be without AC for 3–5 hours during the install. We can schedule replacements in the morning so your home is back to normal temperature by afternoon, or on a cooler day if the forecast suits. For multi-room installs we work one room at a time so you always have cool air somewhere.

Do you offer warranty on AC installation?

Yes. The unit warranty is from the manufacturer (typically 5 years parts, 5 years labour on quality brands). Installation workmanship is covered by our 12-month labour warranty — if anything goes wrong because of how we installed it, we fix it at no cost. Refrigerant gas is covered under the ARC regulations and we guarantee the system is charged to spec and properly evacuated before commissioning.

What AC brands do you recommend?

We install whatever you choose, but our usual recommendations for Sunshine Coast conditions (humidity + salt air) are Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Fujitsu, and Panasonic. All four have strong reliability records, good warranty support, and parts availability on the coast. We generally avoid budget brands not because they won’t cool, but because parts and service become a nightmare when they eventually need work. We’ll quote your preferred brand if you’ve already decided — or recommend based on your budget and home if you haven’t.
