Charge at Home the Right Way

Home EV charging is faster, cheaper, and more convenient than public fast chargers. But the install matters — a dedicated circuit, proper RCBO protection, and smart load management if your supply is limited. We do the full job: assessment, quote, install, commissioning.

What We Do

1

Tesla Wall Connector

Official Tesla-approved install. Hardwired 32A dedicated circuit, WiFi-enabled, up to 11.5kW charging for Model 3/Y/S/X.
2

Fronius Wattpilot

Solar-integrated charging. Charges your EV from excess solar automatically. Ideal if you already have rooftop solar.
3

OCPP Chargers

Zappi, Schneider EVlink, EO, ABB. Universal Type 2 connector, smart metering, dynamic load balancing.
4

Smart Load Management

Avoid expensive mains upgrades. Our chargers throttle automatically when other loads are on, keeping you under supply limits.
5

Apartment Installs

Body corporate approvals, common meter panel installs, individual sub-metering for billing. We handle the strata paperwork.
6

Energex Compliance

Form A applications for supply upgrades if needed. Fully compliant with QLD Electricity Regulation 2013 and AS/NZS 3000.

Which EV Charger Should You Install?

The right charger depends on your car, your solar setup, and your supply. Here’s the short version:

  • You own a Tesla, no solar: Tesla Wall Connector. Cheapest official option, fast, reliable, $800 supplied.
  • You have solar and want to charge from excess: Fronius Wattpilot or Zappi. Solar-smart charging saves real money over time.
  • Mixed household / multiple EVs / rental car: Universal Type 2 (Zappi, Schneider). Works with any EV.
  • Apartment with shared meter: OCPP-compliant charger with sub-metering (EO Mini, Schneider EVlink).

We’ll walk through your options during the free quote visit and recommend based on what actually fits your situation — not what earns us the biggest margin.

Typical EV charger installation pricing on the Sunshine Coast:

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my existing switchboard handle an EV charger?

Most switchboards from the last 15–20 years can handle a 7kW (32A) charger, but older boards with ceramic fuses usually cannot. We assess your supply capacity and existing load during the free quote. If your supply is tight, smart load management can throttle the charger when the house is drawing power (oven, AC) and avoid an expensive mains upgrade. If that’s not enough, we’ll quote the switchboard and supply upgrade upfront.

How long does it take to install a home EV charger?

A standard install takes 3–5 hours: mounting the charger, running dedicated cable from the switchboard, installing the RCBO protection, commissioning, and app setup. Complex installs with long cable runs, wall chases, or apartment installs can take a full day. We quote time as part of the written quote.

Do I need a three-phase supply for an EV charger?

No — single-phase works fine for most home charging. A 32A single-phase charger delivers 7.4kW, which adds around 40km of range per hour. That’s enough to fully charge most EVs overnight. Three-phase is only needed if you want 11kW+ charging (Tesla Wall Connector three-phase mode) or if you have multiple EVs sharing one charger.

Will installing an EV charger affect my solar feed-in?

It depends on the charger. A basic charger will just draw from grid or solar like any other load. A smart solar-integrated charger (Fronius Wattpilot, Zappi) will actively prioritise charging from solar excess, which reduces your grid import and keeps more solar value in your pocket rather than exporting it at low feed-in rates. We’ll explain the difference during the quote.

Can you install an EV charger in my apartment or unit?

Yes, but apartment installs require body corporate approval and usually need individual sub-metering so your EV usage is billed separately from common power. We handle the strata paperwork, coordinate with the building manager, and install OCPP-compliant chargers that support individual billing. Apartment installs typically run $2,500–$4,000 supplied and installed.

Are there any rebates for EV charger installation in QLD?

QLD state rebates for EV chargers have changed several times. At time of writing there’s no standalone home charger rebate, but some energy retailers offer discounts or free installs as part of EV plan signup. Check with your retailer before you install. We can time the work around any rebate deadlines you need to meet.
